Ordinarily it would be quite rude to point out that someone’s put on weight, however in this case it can only be seen as a compliment.
The last time we saw Matthew McConaughey he was practically a walking Skelton having lost a staggering 40lbs for the film The Dallas Buyers club, in which he plays an HIV sufferer.
Last night on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards however the actor looked far healthier as he’s now put on 25lbs having finished shooting the movie. He’s now much closer to his former goal weight but has some way to go before regaining the envious muscley form he used to brandish so often.
At his lowest ebb for the part he was just 135lbs, a frighteningly small size which he managed to reach after carefully monitoring his food intake for several months.
As you can imagine, Matthew was overwhelmed when he finally got to eat fatty foods again after filming wrapped. He revealed:
‘That was it. I got the cheeseburger, and then I sat there for 25 minutes and doozied it up.’
Surprisingly though the actor doesn’t seem too unhappy with his diminished frame. When asked if he missed his muscles he replied:
‘I have less [physical] leverage, but my mind is way sharper... You know, I love to wrestle. It's a good time to wrestle me now.’
