According to TMZ, Lindsay - who is in trouble for a car crash that happened in California and a New York jewellery heist case for which she has broken the terms of her probation - sacked her lawyer Shawn Holley before she could present a plea deal that would have kept Lindsay out of prison, instead checking into ‘lockdown rehab’ for six months.
It was just before Holley was due at the courthouse to present the deal to the prosecution that Lindsay bizarrely fired her, instead hiring New York lawyer Mark Heller who was banned from practising law for five years in the 90s. The problem here is that Heller is unable to represent Lohan as he’s not licensed to practice in California.
Hiring a lawyer that can’t practice in the state you’re being prosecuted in. Smart move Linds.
With no lawyer to enter a plea on her behalf, Lindsay will have to make her plea herself but TMZ report she won’t be at court. Lindsay will have to appear herself or have a lawyer appear on her behalf or it’s likely the judge will issue a warrant for her arrest.
If a deal can’t be made it’s likely Lindsay will face substantial jail time.
